Course Description

The Advanced Certificate in Business is a one-year, full-time course which provides the business knowledge and skills required to form the basis of a career in industry, commerce or the public service.

Students will gain an understanding of the functional areas of business and the factors that influence business success.

Entry Requirements

Any QQI Level 5 Certificate. There are no specific module requirements.

Consideration will also be given to mature applicants, aged over 23, who do not meet these requirements.

Progression

Successful students have the opportunity to gain direct entry to the second year of the Business Degree at Technological University of the Shannon.

Structure of the Course

A timetable will be provided at the beginning of the course. Classes will run over three and a half days per week. Level 6 students will be free each Thursday to complete their work experience.

Students will receive a college email address and access to Microsoft Teams, where course resources will be made available.

To achieve the overall QQI Level 6 Business Award, students are required to successfully complete all eight modules.

Work Experience

Work experience is an important part of the course. Students are required to complete 100 hours of work experience in a business setting.

Learning Support

Additional classes may be provided for students who have educational psychological reports.

Students who require learning support should inform the college. All information will be treated confidentially.

Course Fees

Student Services Registration Fee: €50
QQI Examination Fees: €80

Medical Card holders are exempt from the QQI examination fee.
