Duration

Full-time, one-year course running from September to May.

Course Description

This one-year, full-time course provides students with the practical skills and knowledge required for the dynamic world of business and event management.

By combining technical event management skills with essential business competencies, students can prepare for employment and career progression across a wide range of event-related and administrative settings.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award.

Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants, aged over 23, who do not meet these entry requirements.

Progression Opportunities

Graduates may progress within Longford College of Further Education to the QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business.

Graduates are also eligible to apply through the CAO and the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at technological universities and universities.

Structure of the Course

A timetable will be provided at the beginning of the course. Level 5 Business students will attend college from Monday to Thursday, with Friday allocated for work experience.

Students will receive a college email address and access to Microsoft Teams, where all course resources will be available.

Students will be fully supported with their assignments and assessments. To achieve the overall QQI Level 5 Business Award, all eight modules must be successfully completed.

Work Experience

Work experience is an important part of the course. Students are required to complete 100 hours of work experience in a business setting.

Friday is allocated as the weekly work experience day.

Learning Support

Additional classes may be provided for students who have educational psychological reports.

Students who require support should inform the college. All information will be treated confidentially.

Course Fees

  • Student Services Registration Fee: €50
  • QQI Examination Fee: €50

Medical Card holders and BTEI students are exempt from the QQI examination fee.
