This course is designed to prepare students to work as healthcare assistants in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, community services and hospitals.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, LCVP or FETAC/QQI Level 4 Award.

Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants, aged over 23, who do not meet these entry requirements.

Students will also be required to undergo the Garda Vetting process.

Work Experience

External work experience is a vital part of this course. Learners are required to secure a minimum of 100 hours of work experience.

Practical placement settings may include:

Nursing homes
Day care centres
Specialist care settings
Hospital settings

Course Costs

Registration fee: €50, non-refundable
Uniform: approximately €25

Manual Handling training: approximately €60, depending on the trainer
First Aid and CPR: approximately €100, depending on the trainer
Examination and Certificate Fee: €50
